Style Guide - Glittering Retrò

Get inspired by the advice of a professional stylist to wear our new Golden Bustier Bra part of our Sassy Set

Fashion is forever changing but there is one trend we particularly love at Chité: lingerie as outerwear.

From bra with intricate back detailing to wear on a backless dress to sexy bustier bra, lingerie has become a key accessory in our daily wardrobe.

Christmas and New Year’s Eve are just around the corner, it is time to bring our femininity out and pair our lingerie with our special outfit whether you go for a sexy, glamorous or even edgy style!

We went to seek professional advice from top American stylist Annie Atienza, helping you to nail down your lingerie outfit look.

According to you, is lingerie as outerwear going to become a major trend in the near future?

We are seeing lingerie-as-outerwear dominate the fashion landscape, and there's no sign of slowing down. There are so many ways to execute this trend, to fit your style personality. It just takes a little experimentation and imagination to make this trend your own!

At Chité, we all fell for the Golden Bustier Bra and high-waist culotte, on what occasion would you wear this lingerie set?

Chité's Gold Bustier Bra and high-waist culotte set is super romantic with a boozy vintage appeal because of its velvet fabrication. This lingerie set seems perfect for an alluring occasion like date night, or a festive occasion, like the holidays that are quickly approaching!

The festivities are approaching, how would you pair the bustier bra for a sophisticated style?

The Holidays are a time to reconnect with loved ones and people you haven't seen in awhile, perhaps even all year! This is the perfect time to look your best; after all, you never regret a holiday that you put a little extra effort into celebrating! Thanks to much runway inspiration, it is clear that party dressing is back, and that can mean a party dress, or not. This time of year, I am always turning to festive suiting like the classic Le Smoking tuxedo. This fem-man-in idea would mix perfectly with the Golden Bustier Bra. To complete the look, I would opt for either dramatic earrings or a single drop pendant necklace, and pointed-toed, heeled mules.

For those who prefer to look chic but discret, what would be the go-to pieces for a perfect match?

Not everyone is ready to expose their cleavage to the world, especially in Winter temperatures. An effortless way to achieve a discreet yet sexy look is to pair a semi-sheer top over the Chité Bustier Bra. This could mean a fitted silk blouse, or a open-weave oversized sweater. Either way, a touch of purposeful see-through lingerie exposure will deliver an on-trend message this Winter. Also, don't be afraid of choosing unexpected footwear to further relax the lingerie-as-outerwear concept. What happens if you swap sexy pumps for low-profile sneakers? Or smoking loafers? Try experimenting to create a casual counterpoint to the sexiness of the lingerie.

Could you imagine wearing a bustier bra on a casual day?

For a casual look, try paring the Chité Bustier Bra with a pair of high-waisted denim and a fitted denim jacket. Denim on denim is whispering its way back into fashion this Winter, and is best executed by exploring a range of denim coloration within the same look. Make sure the rise of your jeans works properly with the length of the bustier on your torso, to keep things polite (we don't want to see any pinching at the waistline). Throw on chunky heeled boots and an extra-chunky scarf (think hand-knitted), and you've got yourself a chic, low-key look.

If you have to imagine a style icon from history, who do you think could carry best this trend?

As I've discussed, there are many ways to wear the lingerie-as-outerwear trend this season. I can imagine screen legend Sophia Loren wearing the Chité Bustier Bra paired with a feminine tuxedo this holiday season. I can also imagine Man Repeller founder and H&M Model Leandra Medine wearing the Chité Bustier Bra paired with the denim on denim example I gave to a casual holiday affair. Now it's your turn! Go turn heads this holiday season, ladies!
